before and after

We have been busy busy in augusta these past few weeks, working and hanging out with our small group. Me. Brittany, Sarah, and Maddie have become “DIY furniture re-doers” It has been SO much fun.

My first project was a veggie bin I found at goodwill for $8. It was sanded, cleaned thoroughly, primed and is not getting a new coat…or should i say many new coats of RED paint. It is a Waverley Red, which will be beautiful once it is to its correct shade. Right now it is a little bright…to say the least. I also will be changing out the hardware. THe hinges will stay original but will be painted most likely, the pulls will be changed to a little something more unique!

The second project and my favorite piece, is a coffee table I found at goodwill. It was in rough shape. The bottom has a lot of character but the top, was an old top of a brown folding table taken off then placed on the piece I bought!! SO i planned to have it serve as an ottoman style coffee table, but once i got it home, i was trying out other ideas and decided a bench for the foot of our bed was the way to go. Being on a budget I thought that this may be a while before I could afford the fabric, batting, and paint…BUT…the lord is good! We had an extra egg crate (the thing that goes on beds to make them comfy) as well as extra fabric from making curtains! The egg crate served as our batting and the material was just perfect! It is still in need of the final coat of paint, an IVORY! The bottom has been sanded and primed and the bench top has ben completed! I LOVE IT!! and not to mention it is very cushy!

Welcome Home Freshwaters

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

This is our baby! Dakota Freshwater!! When in a “whiny” mood she will howl if we do…also if there is an emergency in the neighborhood she sounds an alarm just as loud as the sirens!! While we were home…thats what we woke up too!! haha she is soooo cute though!

family visits

Over the last couple months we have gotten the chance to spend time with family! First, the Freshwaters came to Augusta. We loved having them in our home! They brought us our favorite surprise…Albertville Bakery Sheet cake!! Second, We traveled to Atlanta for the 4th! We loved spending time at home with my family, and our “daughter”…dakota! Stephen was surprised with an early birthday by Mom and Tommy, and we joined Dad and Kathy at a Gulf Coast Benefit Concert…which is near and dear to our hearts!!

What We Have Been Up To Lately…

We spent veterans day at Augusta’s River Walk. There were concerts, vendors, skydivers, and of course fireworks!!

getting plugged in

after two months of figuring out our way around augusta, we are finally getting plugged in! Tonight we met with our small group and it was a group of really amazing people! Its neat to see how God makes you step our of your comfort zone but when you follow his lead he turns what you may think will be hard to get used too into a great experience from the start! We are stoked about getting to know this group of people on a deeper level, and creating friendships! Gods humor came through too…there are alabama fans…but i guess with God’s help we can look past that and have a very fun iron bowl here in Augusta GA, haha!!

This is gonna be GREAT!!

One Prayer

We have been searching for a church home here in augusta ever since we moved. We felt so at home and loved going to church at Church of the Highlands while we lived in Auburn. We found a great church that reminded us of Highlands. We are so excited to get plugged in! This upcoming week we are going to meet our small group…cant wait!!

We are currently in a series called One Prayer. Thousands of churches around the world are joining together and uniting. But this week was extra special…because the speaker was Pastor Chris from HIGHLANDS!! We were so excited when we read who the speaker was! Funny enough the freshwaters came down this weekend and they have been going to the main campus of highlands so it made them right at home to listen to pastor chris while in augusta!

early birthday…always a pro

Our parents were in town this weekend and gave stephen an early birthday present! He got a Kindle!! It is so awesome, we are stoked that we can get books now at a much lower price than in the store!! so Happy Early Birthday Babes!!

one step closer to a professional job!

we registered for our OT school classes this week! The schedule is surprisingly very convenient out by three class wise and dont go in till 9 or 10am! We are taking: Development of Lifespan Occupations, Occupational Therapy Models of Reasoning, Evidence Based Practice, Professional Foundations and Therapeutic Occupation, and finally Application Concepts of Wellness and Illness…here we go!!! and the great thing…no class on wednesdays…a nice mid week break…to do nothing better than study :)

Happy Fathers Day

we have been so blessed with the fathers in our life. We thank God each day for their leadership, support, love, and so much more. Thank You to Stephen’s Dad, My Dad, and Tommy!!

stayin on task

We tackled a project two nights ago and it turned out great!! We bought Chalkboard paint…amazing stuff!! So now in our kitchen right by our window we have a handpainted calendar and adjacent to the calendar we have 4 “bars” one for grocery reminders, to-dos, assignments (for school) then just one for notes. It turned out great! We’ll post pics soon enough!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAUREN FLOWERS!! today is my sisters birthday…i wish her all the bestest things in the world! Love You Lauren!!

homemade vs store bought…

I think HOMEMADE…hands down! One it saves money and two they are really good! We decided to double the recipe so that we would have more for snacks and lunches… so tip if you do so, we used a cookie sheet that had sides, which ended up cooking them a little quicker than expected, so ours are more on the crunchy granola side rather than chewy, but they are still really good. ALSO if you decide to use chocolate chips in yours, save about a handful and on part of the granola bars spread melted chocolate for a chocolate coated granola bar! YUM! I definitely recommend these… and it really was not hard to make, just follow it step by step and they will work!

so my afternoon off work turned into a yummy yummy combination! The hot hot did I say hot day turned into a thunderstorm, and actually a hail storm! But we had all the ingredients to make FROM SCRATCH Chocolate Chip Cookies. It was my first attempt doing so, and may I say it was an absolute success! In addition to the cookies we made the homemade granola bars from below. We chose to use chocolate chips and dried cranberries. They are still cooling to the verdict will be soon! this day has been a success and not to mention we get to watch a movie tonight!!
